This gecko is handmade in Haiti from recycled oil drums. Each has a small tab to hang the piece and is painted with a bright colorful design inspired by the local Haitian culture.
- From head to tail, the gecko is 13 inches long. Measures approximately 8-inches wide. Due to the hand-cut nature of each piece, exact size may vary slightly.
- Tab on the back for hanging.
- Display indoors or outdoors. Made of recycled steel and if they are exposed to the elements, they will eventually rust over time. To keep your artwork looking new, respray once a year with a clear enamel if hanging outdoors.
The Story Behind the Art:
Crafted from recycled 55-gallon steel drums by village artisans in Haiti, these stunning piece of coastal-inspired artwork is truly one-of-a-kind! The process of turning sheets of metal into beautiful art is all done by hand. Steel drums used to transport oil into the capital of Haiti are cut, the oil is burned off to clean the metal, and then flattened in order to create stunning, upcycled art.
